A powerful sermon on the first Beatitude from Matthew 5; ““God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.”
The word we heard God speak to us about as a church this year is COMEBACK, a need to come back to Jesus, a need to position ourselves for a comeback in our lives from the areas we’ve been beat down and knocked out, and a renewed urgency to live in light of the return of Jesus.
God’s love is his faithfulness. God’s faithfulness is his love. God never, under any circumstances abandons his people. Instead, God is saying my nature is to be loyal and faithful to the bitter end, no matter what.
How might God’s vision for your next season be different than what makes most sense to you? What “makes most sense” or is “most logical” is often not the Kingdom way. What does repentance and obedience look like in God’s eyes.
Jesus’ baptism shows us the character of God. Humility. Humility is the character of the kingdom. We should be astounded that Jesus got baptized at all. Matthew is now presenting Jesus, the living gospel and example of God’s nature and character.
